Description
Itron is searching for a Senior Design Engineer in our West Union, SC location to design, modify, and manage all activities for a specific high-volume product, or product packaging developments for low-volume network infrastructure devices, from product definition and planning through production and release. Responsible for development of the industrial solutions ranging from the development of individual component designs, subassemblies, covering the complete design process from requirements specification to feasibility studies. Conceptual and detailed design using Pro-E, detail drawings, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), procurement of prototype parts, prototype testing, system integration, and handoff to manufacturing. Prepare presentations and review designs along with mechanical peers and project teams, and work with the First Tier Communication and Development of Vendor and Manufacturing Process selection. Create cost and billing of materials associated with mechanical and product developments. Generate structural test plans and perform mechanical tests to validate the critical aspects of the design and products. Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) to create technical 3-D models and structural designs, technical engineering drawings of the products in Pro-E using Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and Stackup analysis. Develop assembly instructions and perform Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) on product failures from the field or internal testing. Design and develop mechanical products for various manufacturing and assembly process. Design Structural testing procedures and coordinates with other to perform tests. Serves as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to completion and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle, from product release through maintenance of the product and end of life decisions. Investigates and applies new technologies and industry trends to product management activities. Ensures that shipped products meet specifications and quality goals. Research and implement cost saving opportunities in design or supply areas.
